ABOUT GENERAL MEDICINE
Patients can receive primary health care from General Internal Medicine. Our consultants help with both overall care and specific medical issues. They specialise in preventive medicine, health monitoring, testing, and special treatment programmes including weight management and diabetic follow-up, as well as making recommendations to specialists as necessary.
General Medicine is one of Maya Nursing Home’s main departments. Our highly qualified and experienced consultants provide a wide range of general medicine treatments for adults, including a 24-hour onsite service for acute undifferentiated medical disorders, medical crises, and medical urgent conditions.
Multisystem illness, nonspecific medical disorders, Hypertension & Dyslipidaemia, Continence, Upper airways, Emergency review, Chronic Fatigue, Immigrant Health, Infectious diseases and Immunization, and so on are all covered in our outpatient general medicine clinic.
Maya Nursing Home’s general medicine clinic is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, providing nonsurgical health care to adult patients. They treat patients with difficult, serious, or unusual medical problems and continue to care for them until the problems are resolved or stabilised.
We often treat the following conditions:
- Recurrent infections such as cold, sore throat, cystitis thrush, chest infections and bacterial infections
- Asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Endocrine (glandular) disorders such as under-active thyroid
- Some types of heart disease, high blood pressure and palpitations (requiring no orthodox treatment
- Side effects of prescribed medications
- Some persistent symptoms where tests have not revealed a serious underlying disorder
- Digestive disorders for example acid reflux, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease
- Type II diabetes
- Chronic headache such as migraine or tension-type headache
